When I had my emotional crash last May, my sister took me to see my boss at home in his lunch hour. I just stood there crying while my sister explained what was happening with me and that I wasn't coping with life. He told me that at times he had also struggled and told me to take as much time as I needed and not to worry at all about my job. That was a huge relief and took a load off my mind.

At the moment I am in the process of selling my house, so my wonderful husband and I can buy a home together. I had an offer on my house that looked really promising, but it fell through. I went home in tears at lunchtime. My boss rang to ask how I was and told me not to worry about coming back to work that day. I told him to take it off my holidays but he said he wouldn't and just to take care of myself.

Recently, I asked him if there was any chance that workplace would sponsor shirts for our regional Like Minds, Like Mine team to wear for our presentations. He agreed to pay for the lot, including printing costs for the Like Minds and work logo.

Having a great boss who supports me and is looking out for me makes such a difference. He has become more than just a boss; he's also a friend. He even attended my wedding last year.
