Support
Transcript
Aubrey: In those early days the support was, um, probably a bit slow in coming because people didn't really know what to expect.
And you hear mental illness and it's... do I phone? Do I get in contact? What do I do?
I didn't want pity, I wanted to be understood.
And pity's not going to solve anything, but practical things are gonna help.
You just want people to come round and be committed to helping you out.
And it doesn't need to be tears, it just needs to be strong people that say "hey, I can give you a hand", "what do you need done?", "this is how we're gonna do it."
Voice Over
For people with mental illness, the biggest barrier to recovery is discrimination.
What you do makes the difference.
